The Data Controller determines the purposes and means of processing personal data within the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR.
2. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies to all users of the Literature mobile application ("the App").
The App operates without user accounts and does not require registration. All data processing is limited to what is strictly necessary for core functionality.
3. Categories of Data Processed
The App does not require account creation and does not collect personal data for identification purposes.
3.1 Local Device Data
The following data is stored exclusively on the user’s device:
- User-defined display name (optional)
- Selected gated applications
- Screen Time permission status
- Reading progress and selected books
- Subscription status information
- Push notification preferences
This data is not transmitted to any external server controlled by the Developer.
3.2 Push Notification Tokens
To enable notifications, the App may process a device push notification token provided by Apple. This token is used solely to deliver notifications related to the App’s functionality.
3.3 Crash Logs
Crash reports may be processed via Apple’s built-in diagnostic systems to improve app stability. These reports do not contain personally identifiable information.
3.4 Device Information
Basic technical information such as device model and operating system version may be processed locally to ensure compatibility and performance.
No analytics, tracking, advertising identifiers, or profiling technologies are used.
4. Purposes of Processing
Data is processed solely to:
- Provide and maintain the App’s core functionality
- Manage gated applications using Screen Time APIs
- Store reading progress locally
- Enable and deliver push notifications
- Manage subscription access
- Ensure technical stability and security
Data is never used for advertising, behavioral tracking, or commercial profiling.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Article 6)
Article 6(1)(b) – Performance of a Contract
Processing necessary to provide the App’s functionality.
Article 6(1)(a) – Consent
For optional features such as push notifications.
Article 6(1)(f) – Legitimate Interests
For ensuring app security, stability, and proper functioning.
6. Screen Time and App Restrictions
The App integrates with Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to manage selected applications.
Selected gated applications and restriction settings are processed and stored locally on the user’s device. This information is not transmitted to the Developer.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
The App may offer optional paid features via Apple In-App Purchases.
All payments are processed exclusively by Apple. The Developer does not collect or store payment card details or billing information.
Subscription entitlement status may be processed locally and, where applicable, managed via RevenueCat solely to validate access to paid features.
8. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services:
- Apple Screen Time / Family Controls APIs
- Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)
- Apple In-App Purchases
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
These services operate under their own privacy policies.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
All user data is stored locally on the device.
Users may delete all stored data at any time by:
- Deleting the App from their device, or
- Using the in-app data reset function
Upon deletion, all locally stored data is permanently removed.
10. Data Security
The App relies on Apple’s secure system frameworks and device-level protections. No centralized database of user data is maintained by the Developer.
11. International Data Transfers
The Developer does not operate any independent servers. Any data processed by Apple or RevenueCat may be subject to their respective international data transfer mechanisms.
12. User Rights Under GDPR
Where applicable, users have the right to:
- Access personal data
- Request correction or deletion
- Restrict or object to processing
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

13. Age Restriction
The App is intended for users aged 16 and older.
The App is not designed as a parental control service.
14. Changes to This Policy
This Policy may be updated from time to time.
Updates will be published within the App. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

This Policy is governed by applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR.
